Brookline Booksmith, thriving in the heart of Coolidge Corner in Brookline, Massachusetts, since 1961, is one of New England’s premier independent bookstores. Beloved by the local community, the store was named Best of the Best 2024 in the bookstore category by The Boston Globeon.
-
Amazon has taken over a significant portion of the U.S. book market, making it difficult for independent bookstores to thrive. As Amazon continues to dominate, more and more people overlook the value of the bookstores.
The task is simple, help Brookline Booksmith build a campaign to bring more people to the bookstore, encouraging them to visit and, ideally, make purchases.
-
Amazon controls more than 50% of the print book market and sells more than 300 million print books per year, and accounts for at least 50% of all book sales in the US, even Barns and Noble find it hard to compete with it.
However, Amazon’s shipping is not a reliable option for book delivery, as many books are damaged during the shipping process, leading to huge disappointment for customers who expect their books to arrive in perfect condition. Many books arrive torn or bent.
-
When people purchase books on Amazon, the reading experience begins with unwrapping the package. But a book’s condition is part of the reading experience — if it’s damaged, the reading experience starts wrong.
-
Booksmith’s business is entirely depending on the local neighborhood. They make sure customer is satisfied with each purchase made in the store.

Show how Brookline Booksmith could be the guarantee of the perfect reading experience.
